To me this picture always has been beyond my comprehension. The width of this picture covers approximately one-thirteenth the diameter of a full moon. Until recently, this picture represents the farthest humans have seen, to the far edges of the universe. Notice this is a picture not of stars, but galaxies. Each galaxy containing millions of stars millions of miles apart, and the galaxies are thousands and millions of light-years apart. The tiniest dots in this picture represent more galaxies, farther away than we can imagine. Is there no end? Perhaps more amazing is to realize what we see is from billions of years ago, not the present.

Galaxies. Billions of years ago. Amazing.
